A Full Range of Services
As part of our value added services for members, LOGIS offers complete LAN (Local Area Network) Services—from initial planning all the way through to daily maintenance. We consult with you, determine your needs, draw up the plans, help you purchase equipment and software, install the equipment and software at your site, and maintain your network on a day-to-day basis.

The Experience You Need
Our network staff knows the business of cities and governmental organizations. In fact, LOGIS is a consortium composed of cities and organizations just like yours. Our network staff are professionals who have the expertise to not only plan, install, and manage a first rate network, but also help you gain the maximum benefit from it.

The Connection You Want
LOGIS Network Services also provides you with something that no other vendor can offer: the LOGIS Wide Area Network (WAN). Our WAN allows your LAN to be connected with the networks of other LOGIS member cities and organizations, and other organizations such as Hennepin County. The benefits of the LOGIS WAN are too numerous to list completely, but they include remote network diagnostic capabilities, access to shared Police Department information (for LOGIS Public Safety System users), inter-city e-mail address books, and other enhanced cooperative abilities. Please note that the security of your data is never a problem; you share only what you want to share.

Latest Technology
Technology never stands still. That’s why LOGIS’s Network Services staff not only keep themselves aware of and trained in leading edge technology, but also work to integrate that technology into the networks we manage. For example, we support up-to-date local operating systems such as Novell 5.X and Windows 2000, and communications technologies such as DSL, ATM, and IP Telephony. If you don’t want your network’s technology stuck in the past, move into the future with LOGIS.

 

A Cost Effective Solution
LOGIS offers a cost-effective solution by giving you the power of a consortium. Because we represent such a large group (all of the LOGIS members) we can negotiate the best prices on PC’s and network equipment. Also, because we are a non-profit agency our standard labor rate is quite low. So, if cost is an important factor for you, LOGIS is the logical choice.
 

What We Provide
The following list describes many of the network services LOGIS provides. However, if your organization requires a special network solution that isn’t listed here, please don’t hesitate to call us. Flexibility is one of our hallmarks.

  • Network Design
    We can design your network from scratch or consult with you extensively if you want to plan your own.

  • Hardware Installation
    We install network equipment according to your network plan and established standards. This can include network cards in PC nodes, cables, hubs, routers, etc.

  • Updating Operating Systems
    We can update or help you to update the Operating System software for your network.

  • Network Maintenance
    We can diagnose, report, and repair network failures as needed.

  • WAN Maintenance
    We maintain your organization’s Wide Area Network (WAN). This includes your connection to the LOGIS WAN and any other WANs to which you are connected.

  • Network “Wellness”
    We monitor your network closely, maintaining statistics on network traffic, level of usage, etc. We then analyze the data to see if and when a repair, change, or upgrade might be needed in your network configuration. We also use OpenView software to automatically warn us of impending problems or faults. In other words, we’ll solve a network problem before it becomes a problem.

  • Dial-in Facilities
    We can install remote dial-in facilities for you as needed. These facilities allow you to access your network from another location over standard telephone lines.

  • Network Application Installation
    We can install and set up network applications as needed. Network applications can be run from selected nodes (PC’s attached to the network) as desired.

  • LAN/WAN Capacity Planning
    We ensure that your LAN/WAN connections can handle the amount of data going through them.

  • Security Planning and Management
    We can help you create the necessary policies for the secure running of your networks.

  • Disaster Recovery
    We perform disaster recovery planning and services for your network.

LOGIS Value Added Service
Network Services is a LOGIS value added service. We provide value added services exclusively to our members. (Members must subscribe to at least one LOGIS application.)
