Permit and Inspection Management System
Overview
The Permit and Inspection Management System (PIMS/cs),
is a Windows based, client/server application that not only facilitates
the issuance of permits and the scheduling and tracking of inspections,
but also has complete modules for contractors, business licensing and
code enforcement (complaint tracking).
Permits and Inspections
You can issue a variety of permit types:
building, plumbing, mechanical, sewer & water, sign, fire, electrical,
temporary use, point of sale (housing), public works and a user defined
type. In addition, you define subtypes and work types to further
classify permits. Required inspections can be assigned to permits.
Fees are grouped and easily assigned to a permit, and the fee amount is
automatically calculated.
Inspection results are “attached” to permits. Each
result includes not only who, what, when and where but you can also add
free form and standard comments. You can final a permit at any time or
final it automatically when all of the inspections have passed.
Inspection orders and a certificate of occupancy can be recorded and
printed.
-
The site lot, block, addition, PID and owner
information can be automatically retrieved based on permit address.
-
Contractor information can be retrieved for a
permit from a contractor file based on phone number.
-
A flexible search tool can find permits by address,
permit type, issue date, and many other criteria.
-
Permits can be displayed on a map using ArcInfo/ArcView
Shape files.
-
A “prohibit” or “warning” can be assigned to an
address, contractor or project.
-
Inspections can be pre-assigned by permit subtype
or work type. A simple mouse click can add or subtract required
inspections

A standard Windows interface means less training
time and greater ease of use.
-
Menu choices may be selected by mouse click or
keyboard.
-
Drop-down lists on fields with data tables allow
you to select an item for entry into user defined fields.
-
Security controls access to each functional area:
read only, write or not available.
-
Numerous standard reports are provided which
satisfy local, state and federal reporting requirements.
-
Crystal Report Writer can be used to build
additional ad-hoc reports.
Inspection Scheduling
A sophisticated scheduling module allows you to
schedule, copy, move and edit inspections, meetings, holidays,
vacations and other events for each staff person from an individual or
multiple inspector screen. Also, automated scheduling can be done with
an appointment availability search. A daily schedule can be printed,
which includes a significant amount of information in an easy to read
format.
-
Inspection results can be viewed by permit or
address.
-
Inspections and appointments can be scheduled for
any time duration.
