LOGIS staff has been working with MN Department of Corrections to automate notifications of law enforcement contacts with offenders on probation to the appropriate probation officer. The Minneapolis Police Department originally began this effort some time ago and developed a simplistic program to accomplish the task. For many reasons, the Minneapolis Police version would not work well in the LOGIS environment. LOGIS staff then created a more sophisticated program called PONotify that will download a list of probationers from the Statewide Supervision site and compare this list with recent police contacts in the LOGIS Records Management System. If a match is found, the program automatically sends an email to the appropriate probation officer and optionally to the law enforcement agency with some high level details of the incident. The PONotify program will only check the records of agencies that have opted to use this free service.
The notifications will make it much easier for both law enforcement agencies and probation offices to hold offenders accountable. More information will be sent to the departments shortly asking if they are interested in participating.
In the Class Program Maintenance Module, in the Program Maintenance Screen, it could sometimes be difficult to pull up the desired activity and course for editing because you could only select by Activity Name or Activity Code. Often times, it would be convenient to be able to access activity and course information in the Program Maintenance Screen by Course Barcode number. (This is the number which is entered in Program Registration to sign up for a course and the number which is often listed in Park and Rec brochures.)
In version 7.0 of Class (the version in place at all LOGIS Class cities) you have the option of using a powerful search form in the Program Maintenance Screen that allows you to search by many criteria, including the Course Barcode Number. You can enable the search form by opening System Maintenance Module > Admin Tab > System Options > Program Registration. To enable the search screen, change the “Use the Activity/Course Maintenance Search Form” option (usually the second from the bottom option) to “Yes.” Please note, however, that this is a global setting. That is, it will affect all users at your city. You should get agreement from the rest of your city’s Class users before making a change.
We are pleased to announce that the City of New Ulm will be joining LOGIS in January 2011, subject to LOGIS Board approval. The Engineering and Inspections department will be using the PIMS (Permits and Inspections Management System) application. The set-up process at LOGIS has already begun with the configuration of servers, databases and tables.
City staff will begin training on the PIMS system in late January 2011. Training will be held at LOGIS and will consist of code table set-up and manually inputting permits in a training database to assimilate the process of entering permits. This allows the user to double check the fee schedule and get familiar with recording permit data. They will also undergo training on Inspection Entry and Scheduling. The staff will be able to continue to enter test data in the system even after training is complete, until they are ready to begin using the application in live mode.
New Ulm would like to go live on the PIMS system as early as March 2011, depending on training and testing. The PIMS staff is looking forward to working with the City of New Ulm.
Please join us in welcoming the City of New Ulm to LOGIS.
The Land Use report is a custom report designed for our LOGIS utility billing clients. The Land Use report is currently utilized to gather data to complete forms required by the DNR and Metropolitan Council, as well as for internal use. It has been an on-going project for some time, but the Land Use report is currently fully functional. The consumption and charges data in the report is now including cancelled bill information. Due to the complexity of this report, it has taken many hours from programmers at Advanced Utility Systems to complete this report for both Version 2 and Version 3, and it required numerous hours of testing.
The report is located in the Advanced Reports menu under the Bill Batch Archive reports. The Version 3 Land Use report does require an upgrade to a new build, so users should contact Utility Billing support staff to verify their current build.
The JDE support staff at LOGIS are busy with year-end prep work, assisting members with their checklists, reviewing reconciliations, conducting training sessions and ordering supplies for W2’s and 1099’s.
As the old year slips away and New Year’s celebrations usher in 2011, Congress has finally passed legislation deciding the tax rates for 2011. The 2011 rates have been installed to the JDEdwards payroll tables – including the special rate for social security withholding. For 2011 only – the 2010 Tax Relief Act reduces the employee portion of the Social Security tax from 6.2% to 4.2%. The employer portion of the Social Security tax remains the same.
