LOGIS HEALTH CARE CONSORTIUM PARTNERS WITH GALLAGHER AND APPRIZE TECHNOLOGY TO PROVIDE EMPLOYEES WITH ONLINE BENEFIT ENROLLMENT
The LOGIS health care consortium has provided access to group health and life insurance for the participating member organizations for over 20 years. A pilot project to develop an integrated on-line benefit enrollment process is under way. Gallagher Benefit Services Inc is assisting the LOGIS health care members with the project implementation using specialty software and services from Apprize Technology. The LOGIS support staff will assist the healthcare members using the JD Edwards HR/Payroll application with set-up and data transfer of the enrollment elections. Consortium members participating in the pilot program will evaluate the enrollment process and provide valuable feedback on the pilot program’s merits and the potential to expand the offering to additional LOGIS members. The Dakota County agencies are well on their way to a mid-November go-live on the PremierOne system from Motorola. Early in the summer, agencies had provisioning (configuration) training on CAD and Records. Over the course of a couple of months, the configuration was completed and train the trainer began the week of September 12th. Last week’s CAD training lasted 3 days. Records training consisted of 3 ½ days followed by a half a day each for Property and Evidence training and introduction to field based reporting for officers. Mobiles train the trainer for 12 law agencies and 7 fire agencies begins in early October.
Self Service Center (SSC) is part of the call tracking software utilized at LOGIS. SSC gives LOGIS members the ability to create and monitor progress of their own incidents (requests for assistance). Most Property Data System (PDS) users currently use SSC, and their feedback has been positive.
Once an incident is opened by a member, LOGIS support staff receives an almost immediate notification by way of an on screen alert pop-up. Response time has been greatly reduced due to the pop-ups waiting on the screen; users no longer need to wait for LOGIS staff to check their e-mail for requests for assistance.
Progress of incidents can be easily monitored by Management and all PDS support staff to help ensure a timely resolution to user requests.
PayPal is working toward migration services from its current data center to a new data center facility. The changes will allow an improved hardware infrastructure, which will directly affect ePermits. This enhancement was originally scheduled for March 18th 2011, but unfortunately encountered technical issues, which prompted a roll back of the changes at that time.
The conversion has been re-scheduled for September 24, 2011. ePermits will be offline during the migration. The ePermits site will be back online the morning of September 26, 2011.
On Wednesday, September 28, LOGIS will host the Minnesota Active Network Customer Owners Group (COG) Meeting. This is an annual meeting where users of the Class software and other Active Network software get together with representatives of Active Network to discuss current concerns and the future direction of the software systems. (Class is the LOGIS offering for Parks and Recreation software.) The meeting is also a great opportunity for users to get together and “compare notes” about how to use Class to its fullest advantage.

The Network Services department would like to welcome our members’ IT staff to our SharePoint portal at http://it.logis.org. Simply enter in your LOGIS domain username and password and the Members’ IT Management portal will appear.
This portal was designed and is maintained by the Network Services staff. The site currently has the following features available to our members:
Member IT Event Calendar – This calendar contains items such as scheduled meetings (such as IP Telephony and IT Management User Groups), scheduled system maintenance, and other such events.
Membership Data Directories – files such as member documentation, common program directories, security and policies are all accessible from these links.
Helpful Links – Links to common programs and utilities such as Phaseware, LOGIS domain user administration and other programs can be found and accessed.
Discussions – Discussion groups are supplied to supply our members a form to submit topics.
Lists – Common lists are provided to our membership for easy access. Members will find items such as LOGIS staff information and Member IT staff information.
Announcements – a Network Services announcement page that supplies information for our membership.
Notifications – Members can setup their own email notifications, allowing the member to keep themselves up-to-date by receiving emails when items on the portal change such as announcements, lists, discussions, etc.

The Fall 2011 Utility Billing User Group meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. This dynamic group of consortium representatives meets semi-annually to discuss new CIS Infinity enhancements, receive updates on specific projects and timelines, and receive feedback on their questions. All user group members have an advance opportunity to provide input to the meeting agenda, as well as pose questions they would like addressed at the meeting. The User Group meeting also provides an excellent forum for members to collaborate on utility billing best practices and network with their cohort.
Highlights of this scheduled meeting will include discussions regarding module implementations such as Infinity.Link and new processes available to our membership, such as credit card processing.
Representatives from Advanced Utilities, our software vendor, also attend the user group meetings to demonstrate new Infinity modules, review new/soon-to-be-released software builds and listen to the needs and wishes of the group for future system enhancements. At this meeting, Advanced plans to present information regarding Service Order Completion Codes, Billing Calendar, Key Performance Indicator Widgets and also provide an updated demonstration of Infinity.Mobile that will incorporate the actual handheld hardware.
Last but certainly not least, the final meeting agenda item allows us to indulge in tempting, tasty potluck while we decisively solve the world’s utility billing problems.
