LOGIS public safety support personnel attend the BCA vendor conference twice a year. The meetings are usually held in April and October. The conferences offer a chance for BCA personnel to update the status of projects of interest to government units dealing with law enforcement applications and vendors. Recent topics have included CIBRS updates, eCharging, CJIS, MNJIS security topics and various services that are provided through the BCA. The BCA also gives attendees a view into the direction the BCA is moving and a heads up on changes that will be coming of interest to law enforcement applications.
The Finance User Group met on Thursday February 16th for their winter meeting and year-end review. Over 20 members participated in the recap of the busy year-end processing routines.
An overview of the accomplishments from 2011 and the proposed 2012 work plan provided the focal point for group discussion. A brief video displayed the user interface enhancements that will be featured in the new v9.1 upgrade scheduled for implementation later this year.
The summer user group meeting is scheduled for Thursday June 21, 2012.
After weeks of programming and testing, LOGIS released a new version of the Property Data System (PDS) software to its members on Thursday, February 9, 2012.
The new version contains many enhancements requested by its members. One of the most important changes is for the requirements defined by the Minnesota Department of Revenue on Property Valuation and calculations to determine Homestead Market Value Exclusion and Taxable Market Value. These changes were needed so members will be able to produce accurate Property Valuation Notices, which are sent to property owners each spring.
We successfully rolled out the latest PIMS upgrade to all PIMS cities and Citrix users (early February 2012). This upgrade has been in test mode since October 2011. There were a significant amount of changes, enhancements, and patches contained in this recent release.
Some of the modules included in this upgrade were: Business License, Code Enforcement, Contractors, Permits, Property, and Septic.
We continue to diligently and effectively work at cleaning up our PIMS enhancement list with every new release.
It sure hasn’t seemed like winter, but the winter consumption months are definitely upon us. The majority of LOGIS cities bill their Sewer charges based on Winter Consumption. Either they bill Winter Consumption or the lesser of Current or Winter Consumption. Each city selects their Winter Quarter months and updates a ‘Winter Consumption multiplier’ on the Sewer service. A program exists in CIS Infinity, WAV (Winter Average Volume) pick-up, which updates the Winter Consumption multiplier with the current water consumption. During billing throughout the remainder of the year, the system will compare the Winter Consumption multiplier to the current water consumption and bill whichever is less.
Usually cities use November-March as their winter months. For example, if a city bills quarterly and is billing a quarterly cycle in February, the system will use their current pending water consumption (consumption used during November, December, and January) to update their Winter Quarter multiplier.
February Billing (Winter Quarter – consumption used during Nov/Dec/Jan):
Current Water Consumption: 16
Updated Winter Consumption Multiplier: 16
Both Water and Sewer are billed 16 units in February.
May/August/November Billings (bills lesser of current or winter):
Water Consumption: 18
Winter Consumption Multiplier: 16
Water is billed 18 units and Sewer 16 units (lesser of current or winter)
Remember to run the WAV program before each of your winter quarter/monthly billings after your readings have been uploaded and any rereads and corrections have been completed.
