Sixteen inquisitive members of several LOGIS member agencies participated in an interactive presentation of WorkForce DirectorTM on June 19th.
WorkForce DirectorTM is an electronic scheduling system developed by the Minneapolis Police Department. Available for use by other governmental agencies, the system provides comprehensive scheduling and time keeping functions not found in other systems.
The approved schedules can be quickly converted into payroll data which can be electronically passed to the payroll department for processing in the JD Edwards ERP system. The elimination of duplicate entry work and the sharing of common data elements between the systems provide efficiencies in operations.
LOGIS has partnered with the Minneapolis Police Department to provide the scheduling management tool to our members. In the past few weeks, we successfully rolled out the new technical enhancements to the PIMS application. This release has been in test for the past few months, which contained an upgrade to the latest flavor of .Net Framework 4.0.
This upgrade allows us to keep up with the latest technology and take advantage of some of the new features, moving forward.
All cities have been running smoothly since the release. We will continue the 2nd phase of this improvement project within the next few months. Some of the other items to be enhanced:
The BCA is in the process or replacing Minnesota’s Criminal Justice Reporting System (CJRS) with a new crime reporting system. Minnesota law enforcement agencies will be transitioning from the current FBI summary format (UCR) reporting to an electronic-only National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) format. There are 18 states left that use the UCR format and 10 of those states are testing or developing NIBRS reporting. The transition will begin in 2017 with all agencies expected to be utilizing the new format by 2020. LOGIS staff will be attending upcoming information sessions by the BCA, and we encourage agencies to also send representatives as this change will effect records entry and state reporting. TriTech is aware of the approaching change, and any modifications are covered under our maintenance contract.
Normally, receipts in the Class Parks and Recreation system are printed automatically at the time of the transaction. However, there may be situations where you want to reprint a receipt from a transaction that took place days, weeks, or even months previously. You may not know it, but it is quite possible to do this. When the need arises, use the following procedure to reprint an old receipt:
Open the Program Registration screen and bring up the desired account.
Select Account > View Accounting Transactions from the top menu of the Program Registration screen.
Find the receipt number you are looking for from the list of transactions. It will say “Rec# NNNNNN.”
Write down the receipt number and close the View Accounting Transactions window.
Open the Report Printing module and select the Receipts Tab. Select “Reprint Online Printouts” and click on the Customize button. A select window will appear.
Select the “Receipt” option and click on the OK button. The Select a Report window will appear.
Select the desired receipt version. If you have customized receipts, there will be more than one choice here. Click on the Select button once you have selected. The Customize Report window will appear.
Click on the Preview button. The Reprint Online Printouts window will appear.
Enter the desired receipt number in both the Starting Number and Ending Number fields. Leave all the other fields in the window as is. Click on the Preview button to see an on-screen version of the receipt.
At this point, you have a number of options:
Print the report by clicking on the printer icon in the upper left of the preview screen.
Export the preview to a PDF file by clicking on the Export icon in the upper left of the preview screen.
Export the preview directly to an outgoing email message by selecting Export > Format Acrobat and Destination MAPI.
This procedure may be difficult to follow without more illustrations. If you would like a completely illustrated version of this procedure, contact LOGIS Class support.
In an effort to better communicate with our members, PDS has started using a new website. The web link is http://portal.logis.org. Once connected it is just a matter of selecting Application Sites, then Property Data or Special Assessments. Upcoming meetings will be displayed using the Calendar link. Documents like Release Notes, Meeting Re-Caps and User Lists will be easily available using the Shared Documents link. As time permits, other documents like FAQ’s and Quick Tips will be added.
In the future, working with your City IT staff, a new ICON for Portal Communicator may appear on the bottom of your screen to alert you of any critical information.
Utility Billing completed the last of the Infinity.Link implementations, bringing the total LOGIS member cities utilizing the online bill presentment and payment solution to seventeen.
The add-on module has been invaluable to cities. There has been a steady increase in registered users and a decrease in call volume. Residents are equipped with the tools to obtain critical year-end tax data relating to their utility consumption and charges.
Additionally, residents now have the ability to make credit card payments online at their convenience. There is no need to wait for business hours to pay their utility bill.
Be a part of shaping our future! Network Services will be holding Focus Group meetings in late summer of 2014, and we would like our members’ participation! Two groups will be formed; one geared towards management and the other on technology. These focus groups will be made up of volunteers from our members’ IT staff, and they will be asked to participate in meetings to provide input for the future of the Network Services group.
The first focus groups for Network Services were held in 2010, which lead to many changes including service offerings that our members heavily utilize today! Working together with our membership to outline the needs and wants of their organizations is a benefit for all of us.
