LOGIS participated in the 2017 Midwest Regional User Group (MWRUG) meeting held on May 4th. This year’s meeting was hosted by City Water, Light and Power (CWLP), Springfield, IL. Three Advanced Utility Support staff members attended in addition to representatives from Altair and Online Utility Exchange.
The first half of the meeting centered on the topic of Version 4 implementations. The City of Columbia, MO was on-hand to provide input on their V4 implementation project and lessons learned. The conversation was both enlightening and encouraging.
Altair provided a demonstration of the new Envision business intelligence product. The new format is robust and user friendly. Online Utility Exchange held discussions on the importance of Red Flag Rules and how to implement.
The remainder of the meeting was focused on synergy groups. Attendees came together to discuss CIS Infinity V3 and V4 and share our successes, concerns and enhancement requests.
The ePermits website has been an enormous success since April 2003.
Currently, the ePermits site has issued more than 218,000 permits!
What does this mean? It simply means over 218,000 times a contractor, homeowner, developer or an architect didn’t require a trip to city hall to obtain a permit. Furthermore, applying for a permit online is fast, easy, efficient and convenient. For specific permits that don’t require a plan review, the permit is issued immediately following a secure online credit card payment.
At the moment, we have 18 PIMS cities (out of 24) successfully using ePermits.
More PIMS cities are excited to integrate ePermits in 2017.
Special Assessment users decided it would be nice to hold a user group meeting in spring in addition to the annual fall meeting. May 3, 2017 Special Assessment users came together at LOGIS for this meeting.
Although many topics were discussed, much of the time was spent on Tips, Tricks and Secrets in the PDS system. Many of the options available to sort and filter grid detail records were a hit with the users. These options are documented and available to users on the LOGIS portal site (portal.logis.org).
Other main topics covered were the use and reporting on financial account numbers, both principal and interest amounts. The ability to quickly add a new Title Company from any payment screen was added in the last PDS release but most users did not realize the option existed.
It may not seem like it in Minnesota, but Spring has sprung and the Summer Season will be here soon!
Many Parks and Rec departments have started bringing their seasonal computers out of the closet and getting them running RecTrac and POS hardware for the first time in months. Typically this includes updating RecTrac on the computers (if necessary) and ensuring your peripheral hardware still works.
VSI—the developers of RecTrac—encourage you to test your systems soon so that, if necessary, LOGIS can assist you with any hardware or configuration issues that arise and have you up and running in time for the start of your busy season.
