The twenty eight consortium members using the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications suite of comprehensive enterprise resource planning software were successfully upgraded from v8.12 to v9.1 during a three and one half day marathon session from October 18th to the 21st.
The collaborative effort, which is really what LOGIS is all about, was completed under the guidance of Dave Schleicher, JDE Support Supervisor and Kevin Pikkaraine, Network Services Manager, supported by many LOGIS staff members and several consortium staff members testing and validating data and procedures.
“I would like to thank everyone on the JDE team for their extraordinary efforts” said Dave Schleicher. Dave continued; “We also completed more data validation and integrity checking than with prior upgrades, and it was all done in a shorter timeframe by working smarter and sharing ideas. Keep in mind, not only was there more historical data to convert (3 ½ years more!), we have had three members start using JD Edwards since the last upgrade, so that meant three more environments to convert, validate and update.”
In an article by David Baum titled “In an era of deficit control, LOGIS delivers enterprise-caliber technology to public agencies” LOGIS received the spot light for providing “world-class ERP functionality to local governments”.
The article highlights the LOGIS use of the JD Edward’s software suite to “leverage economies of scale while maintaining autonomy in overall governance.”
From a long history of serving a growing membership to utilizing today’s advanced technologies, Mike Garris, Executive Director for LOGIS stated “Utilizing a private cloud is a good middle ground between placing assets in a public cloud, where you don’t have much security or control, versus doing everything on your own.”
In front of record breaking attendance at InVision2012, InsightSoftware.com’s user conference at the end of February, LOGIS was honored with the top award “Best Use of Insight.” The award was accepted by Dave Schleicher, Financial and Workforce Management Applications Supervisor for LOGIS. The awards program recognizes “various customers who have used Insight to transform the way they manage Finance. This includes streamlining operations so they gain more time for the finance department, eliminating ad-hoc requests that eat up time unnecessarily by helping the business units be self-sufficient, and providing better value to their business.” Five other winners were recognized during the award presentation.
