Busy Time of the Year for Assessment Members
During the month of March each year assessors have several deadlines to meet.
Value information for all parcels within the city must be submitted to the county for approval. Once the assessment values have been accepted the assessors are able to move forward with the mailing of valuation notices to all owners of the parcels.
Local Board of Appeal and Equalization meeting must then be made available to the public for owners to appeal the valuation or classification set by the assessment staff.
Updated property owner information is then sent to the county. By March 15th property characteristics for exempt properties needs to also be submitted to the county.
Then by the end of the month, information and valuation of personal property need to be submitted.
